Education Programs and Classes and Student Recital Performances: All programing is at the Nimbus Arts Center, 329 Warren Street, Jersey City, NJ. Where public transportation is also close to the venue. Program information is provided in large print. An Access Coordinator is available by calling Nanette Hernández, at 201-463-4814, they will review the information with guests and students to assure understanding of program offerings and options.
Physical accessibility has consistently been provided by partnering with Nimbus Arts Center and its fully accessible venue in Jersey City. Segunda Quimbamba always strives to present in ADA Compliant venues for all public performances, concerts and fundraisers.
The SQFC website official website launch is slated for November 15, 2024 with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 AA compliant website. In addition, top tier tab for easy visibility and access of information when guests visit the website. Image descriptors for photos in addition to launching a Spanish website for Spanish language speakers will be added by the end of this calendar year 2025. We also incorporate the widget tool for users to have options in fonts styles and size for easier reading and navigation of the website information.
This will ensure increased accessibility to a wide range of guests with diverse access barriers from blindness and low vision, deafness and hearing loss, limited movement, speech disabilities, and photosensitivity. These features will be available for users on desktops, laptops, tablets and mobile devices.
Facilities:
Facilities used by SQFC are ADA compliant.
The main teaching venue is the Nimbus Arts Center, a three-story facility housing a 150-seat theater and four studios. The main lobby is accessible on Warren Street facing double doors at 329 Warren Street. The Theater, dressing rooms and studios are accessible by elevator. Restrooms throughout the Nimbus facility are wheelchair accessible. Six seats are reserved specifically for patrons with accessibility requirements and more can be easily accommodated upon request. All front of house and back of house counters and drinking fountains are at chair height. Doorways in and out of each studio, theater, and dressing rooms are 32 inches wide. Signage within the building has raised lettering and braille. Finally, additional accommodations can be addressed by contacting SQFC and/or Nimbus directly.
ADA Committee members are available to facilitate the requests from guests for specific accommodations. Through artist residencies and school assemblies Segunda Quimbamba performs in public schools in the County and in the State which address their own ADA compliance.

This type of request must meet the requirement of a minimum 3 weeks’ notice to schedule an interpreter to be on-site for the event to provide the service for guests’ request.
Employment:
SQFC’s board approved policy that states it will not discriminate in the engagement for services against potential staff, volunteers, artists or others due to a disability. This includes sensitivity training for all personnel that work with the public and staff.
All personnel having contact with the public are vetted by the Executive Director and the Director of Development. Part of the process and success of SQFC follows per procedural company requirements are personnel background checks that include questionnaire and interviews There is training and an orientation given to all persons working with the public for all programming and services delivered by SQFC to the public.
This ensures that guests and workers are treated with the utmost professionalism, respect and that the personnel have the tools and ability to work with a diverse population as determined viable and suitable for the organization.

Organizational Policies and Practices/Grievance Procedures
Grievance procedure: Anyone who feels they have been denied full access to any of our instructional programs or performances are called upon to write a letter to the Board of Directors or Project Manager citing their dismay or dissatisfaction in detail. Review of the compliant will take place within 30 (thirty) days. The responsible party will address the concerns of the grievance by initiating information gathering and fact-finding and put in motion a plan to resolve their complaint immediately, and as positively as possible.
This is extremely important to us as we are in the business of customer and guests’ services and 100% committed to assuring students and guests are fully satisfied and content with both our ethical and responsible behavior.
The SQFC does not have full or part-time staff. There are two volunteers who take on the roles of – Executive Director and Development Director. Two volunteer members were added to the advisory board for compliance.
Programs and Services for Persons with Disabilities/Effective Communication
SQFC is a Resident Partner at the Nimbus Arts Center at the Lively in Jersey City. As a newly developed construction meets all building code requirement for ADA Compliance. This facility is fully compliant with wheelchair accessibility (elevators) and barrier free entrances and building access. Location: 329 Warren St, Jersey City, NJ 07302. SQFC will always chose venues that are compliant with ADA requirements whenever possible, as this allows for our shows to be accessible to as many people as possible part of the fulfillment of the organization’s missions.
